Background

In 2018, I received a call from a friend who started a restuarant business funded primarily by a single private investor. My friend was awaiting the next phase of seed fund from the investor. In order to safely secure the next seed fund, he was preparing materials to support the progress in his business operation and make projections for BEP and justifications for any underperformances.

 

After discussions, I decided to offer help to my friend. We decided to make the following developments:

 

Accounting, Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Creating accounting templates
  • Creating financial statement and income statement templates
  • Making scenario analysis based projections 

Factor Analysis

  • Analyzing weather's impact on the daily sales
  • Analyzing special events' impact on the daily sales

Operational Management

  • Adjusting product pricing by accounting for profit margin
  • Focusing Social Media Marketing using high ticket and sales product
  • Bundling high profit margin products with high ticket and sales product
  • Incorporating monthly temperature forecast in inventory management

 

In this series, I intent to discuss how we approached and analyzed the above tasks.
